They may be machine washed and dried.  This means GENTLE cycle!  Removed promptly from washer.  COLD water for the first washing.  Use medium to low heat in dryer.  Quilts with 100% cotton batting have a more puckered antique look.  Those with polyester will be more fluffy and thicker looking, and lighter weight.  You can always dry clean.  Some people cringe when they hear this. For quilts with lush rich colors, like our Crimson and Evergreen© or Watercolor Florals, I recommend this.  They are all about color.  No one wants a quilt handed down that's all faded out!  It's a personnel choice.

Both ways do wear down the fibers.  Do you care if it fades? Are you planning on using it daily?  Everyday with the family and pets piled on?   Or for show?  I have both kinds in my home.   NEVER store it in PLASTIC and ALWAYS keep out of direct sunlight.

NOTE:  To obtain some of our lovely machine quilted designs, your quilt may be marked with special water soluble markers or chalks.  I must be washed using COLD water the first washing!!!
